Rash started as a quarantine project when production was halted, and I took on the roles of writer, director, performer, producer, and editor. As part of the PDX chapter of Women in Film's Educate and Incubate mentorship program, I've been receiving valuable guidance throughout post-production.
While filming, I wore many hats—setting up automated slider shots, adjusting lighting, and juggling equipment while performing. I consulted with a makeup artist over Zoom to learn how to apply the rash makeup and spent hours dotting myself with a sponge before a day of shooting.
The past four years working on this project have mirrored themes of perfectionism and self-destructive tendencies, which are central to the short film. It's my most personal and vulnerable work, and I hope it speaks to others who have struggled with issues of self-worth.
